Are you going abroad over Christmas? Remember these

We made a checklist of important things to do when you go on a trip. Check below to make sure they're in order so you can enjoy your holiday with peace of mind.

  1. Travel documents:
    Remember to check the validity of your passport well before you leave! Please also take into account your visa and electronic travel authorisation (ESTA/ETA) if required by the country of destination.
  2. Travel insurance
  3. European Health Insurance Card
    Subscribe if you don't already have it. The European Health Insurance Card guarantees medically necessary medical treatment when you travel or stay temporarily in another EU or EEA country. https://www.kela.fi/eurooppalainen-sairaanhoitokortti-nain-haet
  4. Travel notification to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
    This will allow the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to reach you or a loved one if necessary.
  5. International ICE (in case of emergency) marking
    Save your loved one's contact details on your phone in case of emergencies

  1. 112 is the emergency number in the EU
    If you are travelling outside the EU, save the emergency number of the country of destination on your phone before you go.
